Temporary Measures in Place
Michael Walker, TWW’s chief of communications, announced that the plant closure was necessary due to the ice blocking the utility’s raw water source. To maintain water supply, TWW has activated the Pennington Avenue Reservoir and an emergency connection with New Jersey American Water.
Water Quality Assurance
Despite the operational challenges, TWW assured the public that there are no water quality concerns. "The water is safe to drink and of high quality," the company said in a statement.
Request for Conservation
TWW is asking residents to conserve water until the filtration plant can be restored to normal operation. Suggested measures include:
- Reducing shower times
- Delaying non-essential laundry
- Avoiding excessive use of dishwashers or outdoor hoses
Officials did not specify how long the advisory will remain in effect but assured residents that updates will be provided as they work to resolve the issue.
