Fluoride (F) is a naturally occurring element found in various forms in different environmental compartments including water, soil, and air. Studies suggest that Fluoride can have both positive and negative impacts on humans depending upon the level of exposure. Fluoride is beneficial for dental health in small amounts and helps prevent tooth decay by strengthening tooth enamel making the teeth resistant to the acids produced by bacteria in the mouth. However, exposure to high Fluoride concentration may lead to dental fluorosis.
