Massive Water Main Break in Edison, NJ Forces Evacuations
A significant water main break in Edison, New Jersey, on Monday afternoon led to the evacuation of two homes on Woodbrook Drive after a 30-inch pipe burst, creating a powerful geyser that drenched one of the houses. The incident, caused by contractor work in the area, occurred just before 5 p.m., according to township officials.
The affected water line is part of a larger distribution network managed by Middlesex Water Company, separate from the residential lines that service nearby homes. As a result, officials have assured residents that there is no anticipated disruption to water flow for other properties in the area.

Mayor Sam Joshi, who provided updates on the situation, confirmed that no injuries were reported. Middlesex Water Company, which was not involved in the work that led to the break, is currently investigating the incident. Crews have been working to isolate the damaged main and will continue repairs through the night to restore the system.
The quick response from local authorities and the water company has helped to contain the situation, but the affected residents remain displaced as repairs are underway. The community is being kept informed as efforts continue to address the damage and prevent further issues.
