While early residents relied on local wells, the growing need for a reliable supply led to the development of a municipal system, highlighted by the grand opening of the original Water Department Pump House in 1932, as noted by the Town of Yorktown. Today, the Yorktown Consolidated Water District (YCWD) serves approximately 36,000 residents through about 10,000 service connections.
