Renovations and Expansion

Over the years, the NYPL has undergone several renovations and expansions, the most recent being the Central Library Plan. This plan was designed to renovate and revitalize the library’s research libraries and to better serve the public. The plan includes the renovation of the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building, including the restoration of the historic Rose Main Reading Room and the creation of a new, state-of-the-art library for the performing arts at Lincoln Center. Additionally, the plan includes the creation of a new circulating library in the St. Agnes Branch and the expansion of the Schomburg Center.
