Notable Collections and Programs
The NYBG has an extensive collection of plants, including many rare and endangered species. Some of the most notable collections include the Native Plant Garden, which features plants native to the northeastern United States, and the Rock Garden, which features alpine and rock garden plants from around the world. Additionally, the NYBG has a number of research programs, such as the Institute of Economic Botany, which studies the relationship between plants and human societies, and the Lewis B. and Dorothy Cullman Program for Molecular Systematics and Evolution, which studies the evolutionary relationships among plants. The NYBG also offers a wide range of educational programs, such as classes, workshops, and tours, that provide visitors with a deeper understanding of the natural world and the plants that inhabit it.
