The Frick Collection is a renowned art museum located in New York City that was founded by Henry Clay Frick, a successful industrialist and art collector. Frick began collecting art in the late 19th century and by the early 20th century, his collection had grown to include some of the most important works of art from the Renaissance to the late 19th century. In 1913, Frick purchased the James William Singer mansion on Fifth Avenue to house his collection and opened it to the public as a museum in 1935, a year after his death.
