Times Square is the core of New York City, frequented by roughly a million visitors worldwide each year. It is an iconic location for dining, nightlife, and sightseeing, amongst other things.

Times Square’s vibrant atmosphere, broad and high traffic volume, and persistent status as the primary entertainment zone undoubtedly contributed to preserving its striking image. It’s still a significant transportation center providing visitors with a distinct sense of place thanks to its compact architecture, wide streets, and bright lights. It is one of the busiest places for people to walk worldwide. However, Times Square continues to be the center of the city’s entertainment district and a central destination for the global multimedia industry.

History

Times Square was initially called Long Acre Square after London’s carriages quarter and was home to William H. Vanderbilt’s American Horse Market. Long Acre Square was a wide-open space in the nineteenth century bordered by desolate residences. However, things in the area started to shift shortly after that. Entertainment billboards and lighting are only two examples of how technology has transformed the aesthetics and functioning of public spaces not just in Times Square but across New York City.

Attractions

Times Square has been an iconic symbol of New York City’s glitz and glamour for decades, but it is much more than a mere traffic junction. It’s the beating heart of New York City, linking the city’s renowned box office with its commercial capital, rooftop clubs, and major shopping brands. Times Square is packed with the brilliant lights of the country’s most iconic billboards.

There is no lack of activities within the so-called Crossroads of the World. Visiting the amazing Gulliver’s Gate tiny world is a one-of-a-kind experience, but just one of the many that New York City offers. Named after the iconic figure from Gulliver’s Travels, this site sets tourists in the perspective of the giant, inspecting small depictions of towns and sites from across the globe.
