One World Observatory

The One World Observatory is a relatively new skyscraper in the city, located on the northwest corner of what was a 16-acre World Trade Center site. To the west, it is bounded by West Street, Vasey to the north, Washington to the east, and you can enter through Fulton Street on the south.
The original construction of the below-the-ground utilities and its relocation, foundation and footings of the building started in 2006. Later upon completion in 2012, the One World Observatory became the tallest structure in New York City, surpassing the height of the Empire State Building. The final component was the spire, which, when installed, increased the height of the building to 1776 feet or 541 meters. The height in feet refers to the US Declaration of Independence signed in the year 1776.
The One World Observatory opened to the public on May 29^th, 2015. Before its opening, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey had confirmed in 2009 that the building would be officially called the “One World Trade Center” instead of its former name “Freedom Tower.”
The building consists of 94 stories, with the topmost being numbered 104. In addition, there are plans for five high-rise office buildings to be built on Greenwich Street and the National September 11 Memorial & Museum south of the structure.
Similar to many other buildings in New York City, the One World Observatory, includes numerous sustainable architectural features. To start with, a lot of the building’s structure and parts of its interior is constructed using recycled materials like ceiling tiles and gypsum. In addition, 80% of the tower’s waste is recycled.
Even though the roof area of the One World Observatory is somewhat limited, the building still uses the latest rainwater collection and recycling system. This system is part of the building’s cooling system, which reduces its reliance on the grid.
The goal of the building was and continues to be memorializing and rebuilding its former structure and the people who lost their lives.
